Nursing Staff
Deborah Sullivan, R.N.
Deborah “Debbie” Sullivan, R.N. brings 32 years of experience as a Legal Nurse Consultant to Weathington. Debbie rejoined the firm in January 2020, after leaving Emory University Hospital where she was employed as a Clinical Risk Manager. She previously worked for Paul Weathington’s firm in the 1990’s.
The majority of Debbie’s nursing experience was spent as a critical care nurse in surgical intensive care units in Alabama, Florida and Georgia. She left the actual practice of nursing in 1988 following a co-worker into the emerging field of legal nurse consulting in Georgia after completing the Lawyer’s Assistant Program with Honors from The National Center for Paralegal Training. Although her passion and commitment is to the defense of medical malpractice actions, Debbie has worked both sides of the legal process. Her experience with the Plaintiff’s side has brought her better insight and understanding of the analysis and evaluation of cases prior to a suit being filed.
Debbie received an Associate of Arts Degree followed by a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of South Florida in Tampa where she grew up. She remains a fierce and loyal Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan.
Lisa Pollock, R.N., M.S.N.
Lisa Pollock, RN is a dedicated nursing professional with 30 years of clinical nursing experience, and she has been a Legal Nurse Consultant since 2013. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Oshkosh, Wisconsin in 1990 and began her career in cardiac and open heart surgery at Mercy Hospital in Oshkosh.
One of her better decisions was to move down to Atlanta in 1993, where she was employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital for twelve years on their Cardiac Step-Down Unit taking care of cardiac interventional patients, open heart, and heart transplant patients. In 1998, she completed her Master’s Degree in the Science of Nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Georgia State University. In 2007, Lisa continued her nursing career at Wellstar- Kennestone Hospital in her role as charge nurse on the Cardiac/Telemetry floor and then moved to the Trauma/Surgical ICU as a preceptor and charge nurse.
Leaving the bedside to do legal nurse consulting full-time in 2020, Lisa was busy with both plaintiff and defense cases and began her current contract with Weathington in July of 2022. Lisa loves what she does and appreciates the way Weathington utilizes their legal nurses to their potential and treats them as a vital part of their legal team. She enjoys family, friends, dogs, horses, and growing lavender.
Leigh Ann Wilder, R.N.
Leigh Ann practiced as an RN in Carrollton, GA, and Atlanta—primarily in ICU, orthopedics, and labor & delivery, for 12 years before discovering legal nurse consulting in 2002. She found that caring for doctors and nurses who are being sued is similar in many ways to caring for patients—they all need skilled professionals invested in their well-being. For many years, she worked with medical-malpractice defense firms in downtown Atlanta, including Weathington.
Leigh Ann developed an interest in behavioral neuroscience and moved to Boston to attend Harvard, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2020. After a few years in Boston—sometimes buried in snow—she returned to Weathington in 2025. She believes Weathington is unique in its inclusion of nurses from filing through verdict.
In addition to her work on medical-malpractice cases, she enjoys writing short stories, cooking, and caring for toy poodles.
Susan Darnell, R.N.
Susan Darnell, RN, joined Weathington in June 2025 as a contract legal nurse consultant. She brings more than 35 years of experience in both clinical and non-clinical nursing. She earned an Associate of Science in Nursing, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She also earned the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) credential in 1996.
Susan’s clinical experience includes postpartum/GYN (as both a staff nurse and nurse manager), surgical ICU, cardiopulmonary ICU, and home health care. She then transitioned to a nontraditional track, applying her nursing expertise to utilization management—including roles as UM national product manager and claims analyst for national insurance-related companies. She served as director of risk management at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, GA, from 1995–1999. She then spent 20 years as an LNC with an Atlanta defense firm.
Susan loves working in medical-malpractice defense and appreciates the opportunity to be part of a team committed to providing the highest-quality client service. In her spare time, she enjoys time with family, volunteering, hiking, and travel.
