Kimberly Bourroughs Debrow is Of Counsel in the Medical Malpractice Defense Practice at Weathington, LLC.

Before joining WEATHINGTON, Kimberly was an assistant district attorney for the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office where she oversaw the prosecution of complex cases involving the exploitation, neglect, or abuse of elder and disabled adults.  She also extensively prosecuted white collar, fraud, and public corruption cases. Her previous roles include serving as chief senior assistant district attorney in the White Collar Unit of the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, and as an associate in an Am Law 200 firm where she practiced in the General Litigation Group and on the firm’s National Appellate Team.  Kimberly began her legal career in public service as a prosecutor, and previously worked at the U.S. House of Representatives, U.S. Department of Justice, as well as several non-profit policy organizations in Washington, DC before attending law school.

Recognized as one who is “On the Rise” by the Fulton Daily Report, Kimberly has expertise in Georgia’s elder and disability law, business crimes, fraud, and financial investigations.  She is an adjunct professor of White Collar Prosecution and Trial Practice at the University of Georgia School of Law, and she currently serves on the Consumer Advisory Board for the Office of the Attorney General of Georgia.

Kimberly has served in various leadership roles for both professional and non-profit organizations, including the State Bar of Georgia, the Atlanta Bar Association, the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, the Gate City Bar Association, the National Bar Association, Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Atlanta, and ChildrenConnect of Newnan.  She is a member of Leadership Georgia Class of 2017, LEAD Atlanta’s Class of 2016, the State Bar of Georgia’s Leadership Academy Class of 2015, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.  Annually, she spends her time with students as a mentor and volunteer for mock trial programs.

Although born and raised within the U.S. Army and Korean communities of Seoul, S. Korea during her early formative years, Kimberly calls Georgia her home.  After graduating high school in Gwinnett County, she obtained her bachelor’s degree in English from Howard University in Washington, DC, and her law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law in Athens, Georgia.

Kimberly and her family live in Newnan, Georgia and enjoy being active in their community, as well as spending time with their sixteen year old beagle.
