Robert is an associate at Weathington with a passion for healthcare litigation. Prior to joining the firm, he honed his legal expertise as a Staff Attorney for Chief Judge John Simpson and the Superior Court Judges of the Coweta Judicial Circuit. This role enriched Robert’s legal education, offering him an invaluable, behind-the-scenes perspective on the inner workings of Georgia’s court system and the judicial decision-making process.
A proud native of Carroll County, Robert is a distinguished graduate of the University System of Georgia. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Kennesaw State University, where he continue on to earn a Master of Science in Integrative Biology. His master’s thesis, which explored the relationship between genes and social behaviors in chimpanzees and bonobos, was published in the prestigious primatology publication Chimpanzees in Context: A Comparative Perspective on Chimpanzee Behavior, Cognition, Conservation, and Welfare.
Robert went on to earn his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Georgia State University College of Law. During his legal studies, he served as a Graduate Research Assistant, contributing to academic research and publications. Eager to develop his skills in defense litigation, Robert represented indigent clients at the DeKalb Public Defender’s Office under the Georgia Third-Year Practice Act. He also gained valuable experience in federal law through an externship with the Federal Defender Program. Capping off law school Robert earned a certificate for his achievements in Public Interest Law and Policy. Following graduation, Robert’s interest in litigation led him to his role as a Staff Attorney for the Superior Court, where he played a pivotal role in assisting the court in conducting over 20 jury trials.
Robert’s diverse legal background and commitment to service provide a strong foundation for his work at Weathington, where he continues to advance his passion for healthcare litigation. He has a deep commitment to healthcare providers and personally understands the dedication and commitment they bring to work because his wife is a pediatric intensive care nurse at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Outside of work, Robert enjoys spending time with his wife and walking his dogs along the Chattahoochee River.
