WEATHINGTON attorneys Paul E . Weathington and partner David Hanson scored another defense verdict this week in a trial in the State Court of Fulton County. This marks 9 defense verdicts in a row achieved by WEATHINGTON since Courts opened back up after COVID in the Fall of 2021. In the current case, WEATHINGTON successfully defended an Emergency Room physician who was accused of misplacing a femoral Central Venous line in a patient which was alleged to cause the amputation of her right leg from the infusion of vasoconstrictive drugs in her artery. The plaintiff had overdosed on blood pressure medications in a suicide attempt and the medical records reflected that she asked the doctor to “ just euthanize me. “ The case was tried in the State Court of Fulton County before the Hon. Jerry Baxter sitting by designation as Senior Judge.
The plaintiff asked the jury for $ 29 million in damages. No offers were made by the defense. The Fulton County Jury deliberated for around 4 hours before returning the verdict. Attorneys Weathington and Hanson were supported by Senior Associate Erin Coia and Nurse Consultant Rebecca Dowd. The ER physician was insured by The MAG Mutual Insurance Company.
WEATHINGTON continues its proud tradition of successfully defending physicians, hospitals and health care providers.
